Our Explorer Unit…
The Explorer Sea Scout Unit is the forth section in the Scout Group, above Beavers, Cubs and Sea Scouts.
Explorer Sea Scouts are young people aged between 14 and 18 years old. We meet each Thursday evening from 7:30 till 9:15pm at our Scout Hut (during term time only). Due to the other commitments that crop up in a teenager’s life, such as exams, we understand that Explorer Sea Scouts may not be able to attend every week, the programme reflects this.
Explorer Sea Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities including traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival, knife skills and cooking, as well as a wider spectrum of adventurous activities, from abseiling to rifle shooting. Explorer Sea Scouts also take part in many water-based activities such as kayaking & sailing.
There are a number of badges and awards that Explorer Sea Scouts can gain to recognise their achievements including the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. They can also train to be Young Leaders and help out in the younger sections.
